Laurel received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from Tyler School of Art, Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in 2015.  She lives in a little house by the woods in Knoxville, Tennessee.

My drawings and paintings are about inner and outer spaces. I explore the savageries and subtleties of the natural world, and I’m frequently drawn to the theme of human resonance with wilderness.

I’ve experienced the impulse to create narratives since I was a child. I find stories in the landscape around me, in music that moves me, in language, and in the suggestive power of visual totems. I’m compelled to pick details out of my memories and reanimate them by inventing new and sometimes urgent contexts for them.
