Laurel Hooker received her BFA in painting from Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She currently lives and works in Knoxville, Tennessee.

My work's central points of exploration are inner and outer spaces, adornment, and pattern. I'm drawn to the savageries and subtleties of natural world, and return again and again to the theme of human resonance with wild spaces. I find my paintings in the landscape, in music that moves me, in language, in movement. They're made someplace between bliss and anxiety.
